Neutrality of NGOs

Aid organizations worldwide are abandoning hot spots in the world because they fear for the safety of their workers. What is astonishing about this development is that it is occurring at all. Doctors Without Borders, for example, has in its entire history only abandoned two countries despite perils that would terrify most people. The reason behind their abandoning Afghanistan is that the US government has started referring to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) as allies in the so-called war on terrorism. This typically asinine behavior on the part of the US provides me with yet another reason to be wildly pissed off at the flaming assholes who run the United States Department of State and their minions.

Actually, Doctors without Borders was active in Afghanistan from 1980 until this year. And I think you exaggerate a trifle about my dislike for the Bush administration; there are lots of foul things that occur in the world that they have nothing to do with, but I have to start somewhere.

Wahh!

Cry us a fucking river.

Docs without Borders were _so_ active in pre-2001 Afghanistan, after all... What with the Taliban considering them Christian and western spies.

The people of Afghanistan are far better off today than they were in August of 2001.

But that doesn't matter to you. You're more concerned about blaming Bush for everything in the world.
