Seymour Hersh has written an article about the US governments' current policy in the Middle East. Hersh is in a class by himself as a reporter: he is simply the very best at what he does. The article is long and every paragraph is worth reading.
I find it repulsive that the GOP, which claims to "support the troops" can stand by and allow this shit to happen. For that matter, where the fuck are the Democrats.
Would it be funny if the "Intelligent Design" people proved that all creatures on Earth were designed by one or more aliens who thought that the Earth would make an excellent research laboratory?
Yes, it would be.
Apparently G.W. and W. want John Ellis to run for President.
When will Chelsea run?
The republic is almost dead.
Supporting the troops is not the same thing as giving the military, or the president, all the money that it wants. I believe that the great majority of people in the US military are good people, but I believe that they are being obscenely misused in the occupation of Iraq.
On a related point, I believe that the military budget should be cut. Unfortunately, the way in which it should be cut requires a finesse that will most likely be unobtainable. Specifically, significant portions of the outlays for new advanced weapons systems should be cut, and those systems cancelled, and much of that money reallocated for things like training and ammunition. The F-22 is an obscene waste of money as are aircraft carrier groups, F-18s, Seawolf submarines, the V-22, the Harrier, the B-2 . . . .
The aforementioned will never happen, alas.
(Just in case anyone is curious about my opinion in the matter).
